How I prayed for a friend today

Today someone asked me to pray for them regarding an important life choice. Should they continue their job in the corporate world or pursue full time ministry?

How would you pray for this person?

I prayed Ephesians 1:14-ff for them, that God would give them a "spirit of wisdom and revelation so [they] may know him better."

I think the main thing God wants for us is to know him in an intimate way, and to be engaged in a relationship where he is the all sufficient satisfier of our needy selves. He provides the water, we provide the thirst.

So at the end of the day, the main thing is not the job, it's the relationship. Out of this will flow the answer to the prayer. Out of this flows everything you need for life.

I don't know, maybe this prayer wasn't specific enough, but it seemed sufficient. If you don't like my prayer in this case, perhaps you should ask someone else to pray for you :)
